By learning how to up cycle your old garments and accessories, you will not only save money and show the world your creativity.  You will be saving the planet by lowering the amount of dyes, heavy metals and chemicals that end up in our ground water.  Reusing your old items also saves energy and natural resources used to make new garments and accessories.

 

RE101 Turning 2 pairs of jeans into a skirt

Workshop Objectives:

  • Identify the style of skirt, and write down the plan of action.
  • Calculate and create pattern pieces to fill in legs and other open areas – don’t forget to add seam allowance!
  • Reuse details that you love and incorperate into your new Skirt….

RE102 Taking your broken tote bag and making it into a cool backpack

Workshop Objectives:

  • Identify the style of bag, and write down the plan of action.
  •  Calculate and create pattern pieces to fill in bag and other open areas – don’t forget to add seam allowance!
  • Adding old hardware to your new creation helps decorate you bag
  • while keeping harmful metals from local land fills.

RE106 – His Old T-shirt Your New Dress

Workshop Objectives:

  • Identify the Style of dress you want to create, then draw it.
  •  Create pattern pieces to fit into the areas you have to cut into– don’t forget to add seam allowance!
  • Taking the old t-shirt your boyfreind loves and you hate…
  • make it into a dress you love to wear and he will love to see you in it.

Alterations

GC 301 Skirts, Dressses & Blouses

Workshop Objectives:

  • How to mark and shorten/lengthen a skirt/dress hem and proper pressing.
  • Making a skirt/dress waist smaller – nip in the darts and finish waist.
  • Making a skirt/dress smaller – pulling in the side seams.
  • Replace original zipper (invisible or regular).
  • Shorten dress/blouse sleeves.
  • Replace or ass hook and eyes to any garment.
  • Replace buttons on any garment.    

GC 302 Shirts, Trousers & Jeans

Workshop Objectives:

  • How to mark and shorten/lengthen a trouser/jean hem and proper pressing.
  • Making a trouser/jean waist smaller – manipulate pleats and finish waist.
  • Making a trouser/jean smaller – pulling in the side seams.
  • Replace original zipper (invisible or regular).
  •  Fit shirt (side seam – dart).
  • Shorten shirt sleeves.
  •  Replace buttons on any garment.

GC 303 Jackets & Coats

Workshop Objectives:

  • How to shorten or lengthen sleeves
  • Fix the back Shoulder area.
  • Making the Body smaller or larger (is possible).
  • Reshape collars and lapels.
  • Replace broken zippers.
  • Change, replace, or remove shoulder pads.
  • Replacing buttons.
