Embroidery

The Machine Embroidery Series introduces participants to the different facets of Digital Couture Embroidery, including concept design, programming and identification of the stitches and machines best suited for different techniques. Subjects covered will include everything from the history of embroidery to modern day machine advancements. Participants will also be introduced to attachments that can be used to create a myriad of both technical and hand-done embroidered looks in a fraction of the time and cost of traditional embroidery. Those who partake in the full series of practical workshops will be able to create and digitize their design and execute it on one of our embroidery machines, while simultaneously learning the language embroiderers use to communicate with manufacturers and factories.

Embroidery Design and Programming

This series of 4 hour group sessions provides an extensive introduction to the basics of Embroidery Design and Programming techniques.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Create embroidery designs from abstract inspiration.
  • Identify the best equipment for the creation of your design.
  • Learn the best stitch techniques to execute your design.
  • Program artwork to be easily understood by embroidery programmer.
  • Understand the tools and functions of the software
  • Edit and modify your embroidery design
  • Learn how to layer stitches
  • Output your design

Software Programming  and Embroidery Machine

In this 4 hour group sessions, students will use their accumulated knowledge and practice in order to embroider their own designs while learning the basics of how to thread, frame and operate the machinery.
